Swim Steam

I swear I didn't intend to capture some half-naked people showering. Or did I.
District winner of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition.

Acrylic. 18 x 24 in. Based off of two photos I took. Congressional Art Competition winner.

I started the piece as a study of atmospheric interference, but along the way my conflicting feelings about competitive swim got into it. The contrasting temperatures of the elements portrayed came to reflect on a kind of vulnerability that came from the various insecurities that developed (and later overcame) while I went further in competitive club and school swim.
